AGTS Gets Involved !
The AGTS serves as both a professional society
for Gifted and Talented educators, as well as a grass roots
organization for parents with students in the East Baton Rouge Parish G&T
program. We sponsor parent workshops, training programs for teachers,
and operate a small competitive grants program
funding educational materials and research for G&T teachers
in the EBR system. We also provide stipends to help some exceptional students
participate in special educational opportunities, and sponsor
our own Teacher of the Year (TOY) awards where students
nominate and honor their most significant mentors.

Parenting
and Educating the Gifted or Talented Child involves many
challenges and requires special skills. The AGTS
promotes networking of parents and teachers for a better
understanding of these complex issues and serves as a resource point
for useful information.

Our Gifted and Talented
program is quite unique and well worth keeping. The AGTS
maintains links with parents and teachers to help assure
that our program maintains strong community support and that it
continues to bring our children the services they need.
We encourage you to get
involved, join in, and help make a difference.
